There is a giant spider
on the shelf above my bed
on the shelf above my head
on my bed.

This morning.

This octo-titan was eating another spider,
but paused
perhaps to glare at my rudeness.

A glare double four times.

Eratigena duellica is its taxonomic
nomenclature. Better known as the Giant
House Spider. It is known as
the fastest spider on Earth.

And in my bedroom.
Just ask the other spider.

I don’t know about that one. So
I’ll call him
Dinner.

And I’ll call her,
Insomnia.
